Mike and I recently celebrated two years of being married in June! It’s crazy how fast time flies, it feels like just yesterday we were still planning our summer wedding. You spend so much time planning your wedding, trying to make everything perfect, and then stressing when it doesn’t go as planned. Let me just say, your wedding day is going to have some small hiccups no matter what, but it’s such a beautiful and wonderful day that it won’t matter! Chances are your guests won’t notice at all. It’s also going to go by so quick it will feel like it was only two hours. I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from our wedding day. Let me take you back to the day we became husband and wife..
Mike and I got married on a hot, but beautiful June day. It rained almost everyday leading up to our wedding so I was super nervous we would have rain, but we ended up with a gorgeous weather. Nothing but sunshine. We had our ceremony in a beautiful, old church with a lot of natural wood and pretty stained glass windows. Mike and I went the traditional route of waiting until I walked down the aisle as the first look, and I am so happy we did. It was such a special moment and there were a lot of happy tears! I always knew I wanted to keep this tradition, I think it’s just so special.
Our reception was on a golf course and it was perfect. We looked at so many different venues and none of them were what I had in mind. I wanted something big, open, and bright. There were amazing huge windows that overlooked the gorgeous green golf course and a lake. We actually had already put a down payment down on a place before the golf course, but I wasn’t happy with it. With a lot of searching I was able to find this one. Here is a great tip when planning your reception and contacting venues to get the best price – ask for their regular banquet menu/pricing vs the wedding packages. Every place I contacted was more than happy to provide me with that info and was accommodating to me. This will cut your food/venue bill in half!
We also did all the decorations ourselevs, and DIYed our little hearts out. Mike helped me out A LOT and I’m so thankful for that. I have a whole post dedicated to fun wedding DIY’s to save you money here. I wanted light and bright colors for my Summer wedding, and I love the color pink so I knew I wanted light pink to be part of it. I chose the colors champagne, light pink, and peach. Originally I wanted rustic decoration, but we ended up going with simple and sweet decorations. We decorated the tables with carnations, flower petals, candles, and a few other small touches.
It seems like more recently people have been incorporating games into their wedding reception. It’s a fun way to keep guests entertained, and really fun for the newly married couple. We played two games, the shoe game, read more about it here. It’s a super fun game, and I’ve been to weddings where they played it and it’s so fun to watch. Another fun one that we played was “Guess the Bride”, basically you blindfold the groom, have a whole bunch of wedding guests line up (men, women, and children to make it difficult) and the groom is guided down the line and has to feel everyone’s hands and guess which one is his bride!
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed my little wedding recap!
