For the past four weeks I have been trying to eat clean and exercise to get into shape (as I mentioned at the end of this post here). My husband and I decided we need to get healthier and get our bootys in gear. This is my first time being really serious about what I eat and my work outs are better than usual. So, I thought it would be cool to share my thoughts on this and my plan with you all. (Note: I am not an expert or nutritionist I am just giving you my personal advice/tips that are working for me).
In the beginning of our marriage we were eating pretty unhealthy. I was always making new dinner recipes since it was all new to me and trying to impress Mike with my cooking skills. Lol. I was also baking something every week, usually brownies. That leads me to two questions – How did I have all this time, and where did it all go? :p But on a serious note we decided we needed to make some changes and look out for our health.
Changes in our diet
I guess I will start with the basics, what exactly have we been doing to change our diet?
-Adding more fruit and veggies
– Adding more protein (chicken, eggs, & black beans)
– Cutting down on sweets
Cutting out carbs was definitely hard for me because I LOVE my pasta. But, there are healthy alternatives to carbs like quinoa, rice, sweet potatoes, and whole wheat pastas that are better for you to eat. Eating healthy can be delicious and your body will feel the difference! (Incase you’re wondering, we do treat ourselves once and a while with a cheat meal or snack. The most important key here is moderation.) You can keep up with my meals and cooking day to day on snapchat! Username: katiemeshko
Working out / Exercising
Working out with my husband has been fun! We do all kinds of different things to get our exercise in like jogging, running (ok Mike runs, I still jog), biking, and at home workouts for abs and arms. I love how great I feel after a workout! I’ve been seeing small differences already in my body and improvements on my strength and how far I can push myself. It’s awesome! To get my best workout possible I usually drink fitmiss ignite and it gives me the energy I need. P.S. If anyone has any tips on running please let me know!
Taking care of your body and health glorifies God. It’s important to stay motivated because this is a long journey and changes should be life long. It takes a lot to change your lifestyle and lose weight, you just need to stay focused. There are plenty of great ways to do so. You can create a pin board on Pinterest of workouts, healthy food plans, etc. Set goals for yourself. Find a workout buddy; working out with my husband keeps me accountable, plus he makes a great coach. Lastly, you should follow inspiring healthy foodies on instagram (two of my favorites are @amandafitlife and @nourishedbykale). If you mess up or have a bad day, don’t beat yourself up. Keep going and remember everyone starts somewhere! 🙂
